The annual fishing trip to Fawn Lake took place from June 22 to 26. Another good turn out with a total of 16 people at the pot luck dinner on Sunday evening. Unfortunately, Mother Nature served up some pretty unsettled weather, as several fronts moved through the area – sometimes with very heavy rain and thunder in the distance. Several fish were caught over the duration of the trip – but there didn’t seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason as to what was working. Several taken on dry fly patterns – especially in the evenings. Oddly enough – a few trout landed on “large black ant” patterns. On average, the fish that were caught were larger than in previous years. The largest fish of the trip – an estimated 3 pounds or more – was caught by Sandy McKinlay on a Stillwater Caddis Emerger. The club has tentatively planned another trip to Fawn Lake for 2020 – once again for the last weekend in June.
